The Australian Bush needs our help!

Plants introduced over the past 200 years have been escaping gardens and moving into surrounding bushland, changing the habitat and making it more favourable for feral animals and only the most aggressive native animals (e.g. noisy miners and carrawongs). Unabated land clearing and development has resulted in a dramatic loss of habitat for our native animals and birds. The resulting mosaic of reserves and parkland has limited the movement of animals and created isolated communities which may not be viable without help.

Ku-ring-gai is the home of several endangered plant communities such as Blue Gum High Forest and Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest. These communities have approximately 1% remaining in conservation reserves and are listed as critically endangered. If efforts are not made to preserve these remnants, they may be lost to us forever.

This website aims to increase awareness of Bushcare among the community and to support our volunteer Bushcarers and members.
